Glory hunting
I felt a pang of guilt a few minutes ago as I wandered up Maryhill Road to the Theatre of Farce, to pick up tickets for next week's Co-op Cup tie against Rangers.
And why? Because I missed Saturday's trip to Broadwood.
And I couldn't help but feel that sacking off the derby clash against John Brown's Gypsy Army in favour of a hike up to Aberdeen for my best schoolmate's 30th was a bit of a betrayal.
Now, work commitments usually stop me from getting along to away games, unless they're fairly local. But this was the first derby of the season, and there really should be no excuse. How can I rail against the glory hunting Old Firm fans of this world if I'm guilty of skipping out on the trip to the Council Hoose to go to Marion's hawaiian cocktail party.
But then, that's one of the problems of having a derby that's not actually that local.
By all accounts Thistle acquitted themselves well against Clyde in the first half, fell away a bit in the second. Once again the culprits seem to be Gary Harkins and Paul Paton, subjects I've expounded on ad nauseum here so I'll skip the rant this time.
I can take comfort, and ease my guilt, with the knowledge that I'll be watching us get revenge on Morton for last season's royal tanking. In fact, we may be recording the Row Z podcast straight afterwards - stay tuned for details.
